On what would have been Ian Curtis' 53rd birthday July 15th, this week's classic clip is "Shadowplay" from England's own Joy Division. Feeling pressure of his musical obligation and family life, which was scarred after an alleged affair with a journalist, Ian took his own life by hanging himself at the tender age of 23.
This record I first heard from The Killers on their B-side offering "Sawdust". One day I found myself exploring my musical curiosity as I usually do, I came across the original and it was pure raw energy. Ian Curtis, like Morrissey after him both pack this high arching, powerful and distinct voice in their respective arsenals that immediately reels you in and doesn't let go.

oh man, classic....morrissey kicks so much ass too xoxo
If I was a dude I would dress exactly like Ian Curtis. My boyfriend and I never got tickets to Paul McCartney since they sold out in like 30 seconds. Did you make it to any shows?
Great clip and photos. I'm a big fan of Joy Division. I hope you will have a wonderful week ahead.
TWOF: Morrissey kicks more than ass haha....
Deana: I literally just ordered it on stubhub.com friday morning and should get it tomorrow morning. They still have tickets available which you can pick up on the way to Shea but prices are pretty steep at this point.
It wasn't the field seat that I shot for but it's decent seats nontheless. My only worry now is that a camera will get decent photos.
Keith: Same as always to you. Looking forward to your posts.
i completely do that with that song too!
I LOVE that song, some time ago, the Killers did a cover and I played that song endlessly !!
Did you see the bio-movie on Joy Division yet ?
Love to see that too ...
So sad that he ended his life so young.
That 2nd shot of them reminds me so much of the early Beatles.
TWOF: I know that you do. That's why your so awesome.....
Dominica: No I haven't seen it yet and a friend of mine has the DVD but is holding out lol.
Diane: I find it ironic that the other members became a bigger success after. One of the very few times that'll happen.
