202. Live Clip Triple play! Jay-Z/Yeah Yeah Yeah's/Vampire Weekend

"Public Service Announcement (PSA)" by Jay-Z (Live from Belgium, July, 2008)

"Zero" by The Yeah Yeah Yeah's

"Oxford Comma" by Vampire Weekend (Live from Glastonbury 2008)

To give you an idea of how excited I am about this show today, it's currently 4.30 am EST and I have to be in at work at 8.30 am (also hoping to cut out early for the festival which starts at noon). If you also have a couple of minutes to spare, I leave for you videos from 3 of the biggest acts for tonight's show, all who I'm eager to see. Anyone following me on twitter will be updated via tweets, mainly starting at 6pm EST, when either the YYY's or Vampire Weekend start their sets. Have an awesome friday!

200. 200th post? Hello, Goodbye!

Memorable posts from 101-199:

#4- Post #184- The Dead Weather Live
Got the chance to witness one of the best guitarists of this young century behind the drum set, which was also witnessed by the greatest rapper walking planet earth (Jay-Z) and the biggest entertainer in pop music today (KanYe West). Also rumored to have been there ("Twilight" stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson as well as Ed Westwick of "Gossip Girl". The band did a great job of not disappointing.

#3- Post #168- The Bandana Bandit/Post #169- The Making of...
Another one in the shortlist of favorites. What do you get when you have a pretty woman, an awesome lad (me), a photographer in hiding (Liana's b/f) and a beautiful day in the Village? This......

#2-
I still stand by what I said right after I took this photo, even before I uploaded it that it is arguably my favorite photo I've taken thus far. I couldn't wait to get home and share it with you guys because I know it'll speak volumes in due time.

#1- Post #191- Paul McCartney Live
The single greatest 3 hours I've spent in my life. I wish you could have been there Deana but given the way he's been on the road lately, maybe you and your awesome musician b/f won't have to wait as long as I had to.

Unforgettable post (totally not a favorable one)
Post #106- Loss of my Mac :(
One of my darkest days ever. The original home to TMR HQ will be missed dearly...but with that being said, you'll be replaced by a newer, greener and faster macbook, one with a bigger hard drive and more capabilities, sometime around October (a hopeful birthday gift to myself).

By post #300 (early to mid October), there's a few things to look forward too: My first trip to Haiti, Fashion week, a couple of (still pending) concerts to attend and hopefully some personal goals of mine are realized.

199. You're my best friend.....(Chelsea, NYC)

So she's not really my best friend but isn't she gorgeous? *Signals thumb and pinkie to ear*

198. Rain or shine= State of Mind (W. Village, NYC)

I'm an avid believer in looking your best even when it's wet outside (ask my shoes. My rainboots are jealous). Something tells me she might feel the same.......

197. Classic clip of the week (W/e 7.26.09): Elton John- Tiny Dancer

I was recently asked by fellow blogger Diane "Keaton" if I felt it was necessary for Elton John to "come out" about his sexuality. I personally wouldn't care either way, as long as he continued making beautiful records like this one, his fans wouldn't care what he does. But to entertain that thought of him never admitting his truth, I can only imagine one way things would have eventually gone for him: the media (and fans alike) would speculate and continually ask questions, particularly now in the digital age where every celebrity move can be watched and questioned.

It could have put him in a position to have to fess up about his sexuality, even with his adoring fans by his side, I say it was better he got it out of the way as early as he did.

I'd really like to go see him live with Billy Joel on their 'Face To Face' tour but their closest show to New York City is near Canada so unfortunately I'll have to take a pass.

195. Man Of Sartorial Excellence: Yves Saint Laurent

Breaking the stereotypes (and new ground), mid 1970's.

The "Le Smoking" tuxedo suit, 1975

To say he was important to fashion was and is a huge understatement. His death nearly 14 months ago, is still fresh in the fashion world. To the man who popularized making male essentials for women including smoking jackets/blazers, tuxedo suits, as well as the Beatnik and thigh high boot trends. He also led the way in the idea of wearing silhouettes from the early 20th century.

I'm quite sure he would have enjoyed the recent explosion of the female approach to the former male specific items such as the chambray shirt, wingtip/penny loafer shoes, boyfriend jackets/jeans/sweaters, even down to accessories like watches and vintage eye wear.

Fun Facts about Yves Saint Laurent (the man and the brand):

-In 1950, Yves entered the International Wool Secretariat competition for a second time and won, beating out his friend Fernando Sanchez and a young German student named Karl Lagerfeld.

-In 1957 at the age of 21, after being an apprentice for seven years, he succeeded Christian Dior after Dior suffered a massive heart attack.

-He was the first, in 1966, to popularize ready-to-wear in an attempt to democratize fashion, with Rive Gauche and the boutique of the same name.

-He was also the first designer to use black models in his catwalk shows.

-In 1993, the Saint-Laurent fashion house was sold to the pharmaceuticals company Sanofi for approximately $600,000,000.

-In the 1998-1999 seasons, Alber Elbaz, currently of Lanvin, designed 3 collections.

-In 1999, Gucci bought the YSL brand and asked Tom Ford to design the ready-to-wear collection while Saint-Laurent would design the haute couture collection.

-In 2002, dogged by years of poor health, drug abuse, depression, alcoholism, criticisms of his designs, Saint-Laurent closed the couture house. The house no longer exists, the brand still survives through its parent company Gucci Group.

**- Fellow Bloggers of mine (mainly the photo driven ones) if you guys can find a picture Andy Warhol took of YSL, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

194. "If I grow up, I'll be a singer, wear rings on every finger"......

That quote is courtesy of The Beatles with "Old Brown Shoe".

My fellow blogger addict, Diane Keaton (her last name isn't really "Keaton", I just like to throw in famous last names for my blogmates hehe) asked me if I was still on the McCartney high from tuesday night. I'm still up there but now a new curve ball has emerged.....The All Points West Festival. This 3 day music and arts festival will take place in (uh oh) Jersey City, New Jersey next weekend featuring acts like Coldplay, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, MGMT, Q-Tip of A Tribe Called Quest, Jay-Z (who will be replacing The Beastie Boys on the bill), The Arctic Monkeys, The Ting Tings among others. Me and a friend of mine only plan on going to friday's show, mainly for Jay-Z and whoever he decides to bring with him (hey, at least I'll get to see YYY's finally as well as Vampire Weekend). Any plans for the weekend folks?

2 vital things to bring with me: fresh lithium batteries (thanks Diane, you smart ass haha) and my rainboots (Kate Moss tribute).

193. On the street...Sloop John B (Gansevoort Market, NYC)

This looks reminds me so much of what Mike Love of the Beach Boys wore (I forget where he actually did) back in the mid 60's, around the time of "Pet Sounds". The look is identical in theory but still 40+ years later this southern California inspired look is still executed well.

192. To strap or not to strap? (6th Ave, NYC)

There's always this on going debate among the Sartorialists out there about the idea of wearing monk straps unbuckled. I'm totally for but I think that it's done better with a double strap...and of course when dressed casually.

191. Paul McCartney Live (7.21.2009 @ CitiField ("Shea II" to Me), Flushing, NY

Towards the left field line. He really knows how to pack it in.

During the second half of "Something" (love that photo of George and Paul.)

The high theatrics during "Live And Let Die".

I honestly don't know where to start. I'm simply speechless, the man swept me off of my feet (hehe). I thought it was just amazing how the crowd (which mostly consisted of over 40 folks, which I didn't mind. There was however a huge variety of age groups there from toddlers to the upper 80's elderly) got a teenage flashback and just went completely insane at various times during the songs.

I'm also trying to wrap my mind around the fact that he is 67 and performs these near 3 hour (34 song) sets. Not one stop for a sip of water, no lag in between songs, show in, show out. His voice sounded just as crisp during the encores as it did during the beginning. You can tell the man just loves performing for us because he obviously doesn't need the money. He can relax in Scotland and collect royalties for the remainder of his life. Any man capable of making men over 40 act silly and their wives scream like teens again is deserving of every accolade and award he gets.

Highlights:
-60,000 people coming together in perfect harmony to sing "Give Peace A Chance" and "Hey Jude".

-This is about my fourth show in a row where marijuana was steadily flowing in the air.

-I think just being there was a highlight for me.

Paul, there isn't a book big enough or enough words to describe how much you've changed my life in the last 3 years. Thank you so much for a magnificent show.

Lastly folks, most of these photos aren't mine (only the first and last are). They are photos I found on different sites.

190. Live Clip: Paul McCartney- Blackbird (Live from Glastonbury Festival, 2004)

Pay no attention to these dates

For me, this is about 3 years in the making. He hasn't toured New York City since his "Chaos And Creation In The Backyard" tour back in 2005. His last studio album was "Memory Almost Full" two summers ago but because of his ongoing divorce battle with Heather Mills, it prevented him from taking on another world tour. However for a man at 67, he still keeps a pretty full touring schedule, that included the recent Grammy award show this past February, the Coachella festival, three sold out shows at Shea stadium (Citi Field) and back to back shows at Fenway Park in Boston and a "Late Show with David Letterman" appearance on the Ed Sullivan theater marquee.

I got the thinking, who are the 3 living artists/bands you'd wanna before it's too late? As of this afternoon, it was McCartney, Led Zeppelin and Morrissey, in that order. Now that I've fulfilled one my personal goals, The Rolling Stones have been added into the top 3. I want answers and I want them as soon as you read these last two sentences! Be good folks and I'll keep everyone highlighted via twitter/facebook updates.

189. On the street... (7th Ave, NYC)

Reaching for her inner Patti Smith? For a simple and understated look, it will be as cool and modern 30 years from now as it as 30 years ago....I also love the perfectly knotted four in hand.

187. Classic clip of the week (W/e 7.19.09): Joy Division- Shadowplay

On what would have been Ian Curtis' 53rd birthday July 15th, this week's classic clip is "Shadowplay" from England's own Joy Division. Feeling pressure of his musical obligation and family life, which was scarred after an alleged affair with a journalist, Ian took his own life by hanging himself at the tender age of 23.

This record I first heard from The Killers on their B-side offering "Sawdust". One day I found myself exploring my musical curiosity as I usually do, I came across the original and it was pure raw energy. Ian Curtis, like Morrissey after him both pack this high arching, powerful and distinct voice in their respective arsenals that immediately reels you in and doesn't let go.
