447. "Torn And Frayed"

In what started as a simple inquiry on twitter the other day sparked an idea of sorts. This isn't the first time I documented the journey of these particular pair of jeans before.

I honestly thought with the original post over two years ago, shortly after purchasing the second pair that the first pair (originally purchased in September, 2008) would somehow fall out of the spotlight and my rotation of everyday trousers in place of the newer pair. Not only was this not the case but after nearly four years of consistent wear, the scars of day to day life in New York City was taking it's toll on the 1966 Super Slim and becoming painfully obvious.

The tear at the left knee began as a tiny slit, whilst styling a shoot last summer and suddenly within months had me looking like a long, lost member of the Ramones (all I was missing was the Schott Perfecto leather jacket.....oh, and the long hair).

*- ^Two blown crotches later....

People constantly came up and asked where I purchased my jeans or my method of upkeep (or lack thereof). It sometimes made me laugh to know that even with this secret to success (there really isn't, it's just a matter of never taking them off), some of those folks would never put the time and effort (or neglect, ironically) into just actually wearing their respective jeans.

So this begs the question again, does Levi's have some sort of denim hall of fame or gallery to consider temporarily submitting these bad boys?

I shouldn't really even give them up until I finally realize and live out my 'Jimmy Ramone' character through the blog...... Or should I consider retirement and frame them as a metaphorical bar to which I should hold any other denim that succeeds these legendary dungarees? What do you think?
